Sleepless in the Saddle

At the weekends when they aren't busy in an exhibition hall, what do our staff get up to? Well, 24 hour endurance mountain bike racing. Our lads completed the Sleepless in the Saddle event in August which is a respected national Cross Country biking event.

Alastair our Operations Director put together the team including Richard and Tony from our design studio, with the aim of finishing in the top half of the field of 130. After a good start by Dave, a guest rider the team began the race in the top half . In-team rivalry between Al and Tony and a solid performance from Rich meant that once the whole team had completed an 8 mile lap each, Team Envisage were in 60th place.

As the day turned into night, fueled by Lucozade and Staffordshire oatcakes cooked by Chris in his camper van the team was placed around the 50th mark. A final push the next day and another gruelling 6 laps each saw a final position of 46th place overall.

Tony's personal best of 46:25 mins remained the fastest time, and it will take more training on Al's part before he can avenge this at Sleepless in the Saddle 2010.
