PRINCE2 Project Management
PRINCE2 Project Management
PRINCE2 (PRojects IN Controlled Environments) is a process-based
method for effective project management. Very few, if any
exhibition contractors, exhibition designers, stand builders, deign
agencies, or any amalgamation of the aforementioned use the PRINCE2
in the control of their projects.
PRINCE2 is a de facto standard used extensively by the UK
Government and is widely recognised and used in the private sector,
both in the UK and internationally.
PRINCE was originally based on PROMPT, a project management
method created by Simpact Systems Ltd in 1975 just as the NEC was
opened and the prevalence of exhibition contractors and exhibition
designers grew in the south Birmingham area. PROMPT was adopted by
CCTA in 1979 as the standard to be used for all Government
information system projects.
When PRINCE was launched in 1989, it effectively superseded PROMPT
within Government projects all though government funded exhibition
design still did not require its use. PRINCE remains in the public
domain and copyright is retained by the Crown. PRINCE is a
registered trademark of OGC.
The key features of PRINCE2 are:
• Its focus on business justification
• A defined organisation structure for the project management team
• Its product-based planning approach
• Its emphasis on dividing the project into manageable and controllable stages
• Its flexibility to be applied at a level appropriate to the project.
Envisage in its role primarily as an exhibition stand company
but also separately as an exhibition designer and exhibition
contractor recognises the benefits that these features can bring to
the successful constructions of custom exhibition stands. For this
reason Envisage is very proud to be one of the only exhibition
stand builders to have their own in-house PRINCE 2 qualified
exhibition stand project managers who are experienced in the
construction of custom built exhibition stands.
